Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidation
What is a Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidation (CVL)?
A Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidation (CVL) is a formal insolvency procedure under the Insolvency Act 1986 that enables the directors of an insolvent company to voluntarily close the business when it can no longer pay its debts.
Once a company enters a CVL, a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner is appointed as Liquidator. Their statutory duty is to act in the interests of the company’s creditors, realise company assets, investigate the conduct of the directors where required, and ensure the liquidation is carried out in accordance with insolvency legislation. They have no duty to protect you, your assets or family.
At Insolvency Expert, our role is different. We do not act as the Liquidator. Instead, we work exclusively for you — the directors, shareholders, and business owners.
Our focus is to support and represent your interests, provide clear and independent guidance, help you understand your options, and ensure you are fully informed throughout the insolvency process.
We understand that placing a company into liquidation can be a difficult and stressful decision. Insolvency Expert’s aim is to make the process as straightforward as possible, providing practical advice, professional support, and experienced guidance at every stage.
